I started homesteading in New England recently and agree with just about everything you’ve said. Becoming fully self sufficient is hard, but a good long term goal. A more attainable goal is to get an off grid place with no mortgage, and make a remote internet living. That’s what I’m working towards, anyways. One more thing, traveling the world on a sailboat sounds way cooler than van life.
