Reading books by guru Napoleon Hill, I noticed how Hill intertwined dreams of material wealth with a deep Christian conviction. I then realized that American Christianity underwent this change during the early 20th century and American religious worship became somewhat synonymous with material gain. It’s why the ‘show churches’ were born, promoting faith as though it were a rock concert.
